Singapore allures record number of foreign visitors

Singapore Visa
Singapore has hit the headlines yet one more time, for all good reasons. According to the recent report, it is expected that the facilitation of Singapore visa process could result in bringing foreign visitors between 358,000 and 504,000 in 2016 along with revenue of S$768 million to S$1.08 billion for the tourism industry.

The report of World Tourism Organization  and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) stated that Singapore can allure up to half a million visitors in the period of two years if it progresses its visa procedures.

The major markets that need a visa to enter Singapore are India, Russia and China.

The WTTC said that Singapore must deem e-visa programs and regional contracts for visa facilitation and exploit infocomm technology to enhance visa procedures, amongst other possibilities.

The president and chief executive officer (CEO) of WTTC, David Scowsill said that visas are restraining the development of tourism and thus, Singapore government need to automate processes and create more visas-on-arrival, and ultimately, get free of visas in total.
The tourism field is facing manpower crisis and overseas labor limitations and Mr Scowsill supported more liberal labor permits for overseas employees in the service field.

The tourism industry is excellent in predicting growth and this will assist in working with the authorities on future manpower requirements, he added.
